La P'tite Folie
La P’tite Folie 9 Randolph Place Edinburgh EH3 7TE
France comes to Edinburgh in the form of the
impressive La P’tite Folie. The ‘Little Madness’ is an unlikely looking
restaurant, its Tudor-style architecture a far cry from the stately Georgian
sandstone all around. It is super cosy inside, with candles and a swish of
Gallic charm from the front-of-house staff. The menu is relatively safe, but supremely
comforting with fine Scottish ingredients put to good use. Starters include the
likes of oak smoked salmon served with capers and lemon salsa or moules mariniere,
before sturdy mains like Aberdeen Angus beef fillet with dauphinoise potatoes and
blue cheese sauce or the more delicate grilled fillet of sea bass served with tagliatelle,
shallots, crab and white wine and cream. Finish off with fromage or dessert. With food like this, you can't really go wrong, and the prices are quite comforting too.
