Element
110-114 Rose Street Edinburgh EH2 3JF
Edinburgh overflows with pubs and bars, but few serve food as good as they do at Element. This swish new gastro bar sits alongside a sweep of more traditional pubs along the nefarious length of Rose Street. There are a variety of spaces and seating in an odd melange of old and new décor that comes together to create a relaxed ambience. The young, fresh-faced staff add to that vibe too. Fresh produce is key, with seared Scottish king scallops a highlight, ably backed up by the likes of West Coast mussels laced with chilli, plus they do a decent burger to cater for the pub crowd. Wines are well chosen, with a decent range of beers and some slick cocktails completing a winning mix that lifts Element ahead of its pubbier neighbours.
