Finn Village offers a comfortable and quirky place to stay on the most accessible edge of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Just a 40-minute drive from Glasgow, this small and friendly Scottish estate offers a choice of accommodation, all with mountain views. There’s a glamping pod with a wood-fired hot tub for couples, a pair of family-friendly cottages, plus two B&B rooms in a historic house. No matter how you prefer to holiday, you’ll find the accommodation here is full of character and offers excellent access to the great outdoors – which, after all, is what this region's all about.

The Devil’s Pulpit gorge and the shores of Loch Lomond are within five miles of Finn Village; the Campsie Fells and Conic Hill are just a little further, and there are bigger mountains within a short and scenic drive. Adventure beckons, but there are other things to do too: the Glengoyne Distillery is a few miles down the road and the Stirlingshire villages of Croftamie and Drymen are even closer.

Wherever you choose to explore, Finn Village is a great base from which to do it, and in fact, it’s just as good as a cosy retreat if you don’t want to explore at all. The glamping pod and the cottages, in particular, are places you could stay all day, just gazing at those epic views. The pod is glass-fronted to help you do just that, and boasts both a hot tub and a fairy-lit gazebo in its outside space. The cottages offer similar indulgence but on a larger scale – both have a Jacuzzi and an al fresco dining area with protection from the Scottish weather so they can be used year-round. They also have a garden.

Two-bedroomed Mountain View Cottage sleeps up to eight while neighbouring Raspberry is a one-bedroom bungalow with space for up to six. Rent them together for a group holiday and it's known as Caterwood Cottage – as you'll see from a neon sign on the otherwise neatly-plain cottage exterior. It’s a hint at the style inside all these properties – Finn Village is full of bold designs, colour and quirky patterns. The luxurious touches are provided with fun and flair but are function-filled too. Kitchens are well equipped, and there are Smart TVs, Bluetooth speakers, WiFi and everything else you could want from a self-catering stay. And if self-catering is a step too far, you can always order breakfast in – just one of several thoughtful extras that can make a stay here that extra bit special.

Getting There

Use the A809 to head north from Glasgow towards Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. When you reach Croftamie (after about 17 miles) look out for a road on the left called Cattermills. Pass this and take the next (unmarked) left on a right bend in the main road. This road is part of National Cycle Route 7 and is marked with blue signposts. After about half a mile turn left to stay on the cycle route and shortly afterwards turn left again, continuing to follow the signs. Finn Village will be on the right after another half a mile.
