There are a number of faceless places to dine and stay on and around Loch Lomond; mercifully the oak Tree Inn is not one of them. It reclines in the relaxed village of Balmaha on the much quieter eastern shores of the loch. It’s quite some operation as they also have the St Mocha Coffee Shop & Ice Cream Parlour (they roast their own coffee and make their own ice cream), plus they run a village shop. It’s a great place to sit outside on a glorious day admiring the views, sipping on a Loch Lomond ale and tucking into their signature steak and ale pie.
Bedrooms are sprinkled above the inn and in cottages a few minutes walk away, and there are pods too, tucked at the rear of the inn, with double beds and private outdoor decked seating areas. Snare a deluxe room for a view of the famously bonnie, bonnie Loch, Scotland’s largest, and definitely one of the most striking with its necklace of forested island and grandstand setting flanked by Munro mountains, including the eponymous Ben Lomond, which the inn proves a handy base for tackling. The inn lies on the world famous West Highland Way long distance walking trail too. Staff are clued up on the local walks as well as the plethora of things to see and do even if you purposely didn’t pack your boots.Get in touch with our partner directly
