A Victorian country house by the sea that feels almost surrounded by stunning sea views, YHA Coverack is the ideal Cornish budget bolthole by the sea, with a selection of accommodation to suit all sorts – from dorm beds and private rooms in the hostel itself to a couple of fully equipped bell tents and family camping pitches in the orchard outside. The hostel has bathrooms and toilets, a lounge and self-catering kitchen, and the good news is that campers get to use the hostel's facilities too. The location is the thing here, though: the hostel is bang on the South West Coast Path, plus there are loads of activities on offer locally, ranging from hiring a boat on the Helford River, trying a spot of windsurfing at Coverack Windsurfing School or getting properly submerged at the nearby Porth Kerris Dive School. There's the Cornish Seal Sanctuary if you're interested in wildlife, or you may just want to flop on a beach – Coverack has a sall patch of beach and there are any number of enticing rocky coves up and down the coast, and a big surf beach over at Porthleven. Those travelling with kids might want to take a chance at the nearby Flambards theme park, or make a visit to Roskilly's Ice Cream farm, a couple of miles away.

Take the B3293 from Helston to the Lizard, and then Coverack/St Keverne. At Zoar garage, about 1 mile before you reach Coverack village, turn right following a signpost to the hostel. This avoids the congested village and steep hills. Follow the narrow lane and after 1 mile, turn left. Coverack and the hostel is one mile down the road, next to the Village School. There is only access for cars and mini buses under 20 seats.
