This fantastically located youth hostel is a good bet if you’re on a budget and fancy a weekend in the city. In the summer, locals head here to drink outside, swinging their legs off the waterfront wall and supping the delights that its bar – and that of the neighbouring Arnolfini art gallery – have to offer. Inside the former grain warehouse building there’s a small café on the ground floor, an upstairs lounge, and a mixture of double, 4-person, 6-person and dormitory rooms, which are all bright and simply furnished (and some ensuite). There’s a shared kitchen too. Rates are cheaper for YHA members, but you need to book well in advance for weekend breaks.

contemporary building in perfect location
A 'cool' youth hostel? Well yes of course (this is bristol after all). This place was my first introduction to bristol (that and mud-dock...) and I was pleasantly suprised. The building itself has an industrial feel to it which has been maintained in the interior. There is a nice bar/cafe and lots of communal space (lounge etc). Rooms are the standard yha dorms- comfortable enough.
The best bit though is the location- you are smack bang in the middle of Bristol's dockland area, Arnolfini around the corner and Bordeaux Quay opposite
