Cumberland Pencil Museum
Southey Works Keswick CA12 5NG
Let’s face it – you probably came in because it was raining, but Keswick’s pencil museum turns out to be a whole lot more interesting than you had bargained for. It’s an industry that goes back centuries in these parts, due to the local graphite mines, and the museum gives you the history as well as the curiosities, including the world’s biggest pencil. There’s tons for kids to do too, including special activity days, and a well-stuffed shop with all manner of pencils and drawing materials.
