The CanoeMan
10 Norwich Rd Wroxham Norfolk NR12 8RX
Mark Wilkinson - otherwise known as 'The CanoeMan' – is the ultimate rat-race escapee: he gave up his job as a financial advisor a decade ago to paddle the Broads and hasn't looked back, since, offering a wide range of mainly canoe-based activities from a range of locations in both the northern and southern Broads National Park. You can of course just rent a canoe and go your own way, and Mark offers straight canoe and kayak rental from a network of 6 hire sites across the Broads; and he will happily give you the lowdown on the best routes. But he also offers guided canoe and wildlife trails, bushcraft experiences and overnight canoe trips, either camping or staying at local B&Bs, as well as running a variety of themed trips, varying from Swallows & Amazons adventures for kids to river snorkelling and stand-up paddle-boarding. He even offers canoe tours of nearby Norwich – and also has plenty of bikes for rent from the CanoeMan headquarters by the bridge in boaty Wroxham, in the heart of the National Park. The watery wilderness of The Norfolk Broads is Britain’s newest national park, but it’s an unusual one in that it is best appreciated from the water. Mark’s canoes are not only one of the most soothing ways to do this but they will also take you to places that other craft cannot reach. A great place to start any discovery of the Broads - see our video for more.
