This Georgian inn is not strictly in The Broads proper, but it makes a marvellous base for the Northern Broads, as well as the North Norfolk Coast – indeed, as owners Tim and Janie say, it's in 'in the middle of nowhere but centre of everywhere'. A gastropub with rooms basically, it has six immaculately turned-out en-suite double bedrooms with free plug-in internet access, and the restaurant downstairs is great, and justifiably brings people from miles around to enjoy its menu of simple but well-executed modern British food. The location, too, is wonderful – very easy to get to (ten minutes' from the A149) but with a strikingly rural feel; nothing is too much trouble for Tim and Janie, whose long experience in the hospitality industry shows.
