Hall's Croft
Old Town Stratford-Upon-Avon Warwickshire CV37 6BG
When William Shakespeare’s daughter Susanna married the respected local doctor, Dr John Hall, they moved to this luxurious Jacobean home between the town centre and Holy Trinity Church. Obviously the Shakespeare connection is significant, but for once the dramatist takes a back seat and instead this beautifully preserved mansion gives a fascinating insight into a physician's life at the time, as well as the opportunity to observe an interesting collection of apothecary's equipment and books in what would have been the doctor's consulting room. You’ll also find a first edition of Dr Hall’s medical notes published in 1657, while you can also breath in the incredible smells of the fragrant herbs used in his remedies as you stroll through the garden.
