With the gorgeous Yorkshire Dales surrounding it, The Blue Lion is one of the area’s finest stays. It’s a Grade II listed building with a history as long as your arm – including being the last public house in England to have a 6-day licence, thanks to a previous landlady…
Today, the current owners Paul and Helen Klein have built a stunning reputation for this hotel. There are 15 rooms in all, split between the main building and converted stables a round a courtyard. They are mostly simply decorated and fairly contemporary, although the rooms in the main house have a more traditional feel; dogs are welcome to in the two Petite Doubles, the Classics or the Large Classics. Our choice would be the Large Classic, which offers views to the dales, tempting you to discover them later. The Large Classics also offers a bath as well as a shower, whilst all the room types have flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi and water, biscuits and tea- and coffee-making facilities as standard.
