As you drive through Crakehall village and wind along the lane, you'll no doubt take in the picturesque countryside until you reach Ellesmere Barn, a modern three-bedroom holiday property on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, not far from the traditional market town of Bedale. If you're seeking life's simple pleasures – spending time with loved ones in the Great Outdoors, lazy pub lunches, relaxing with a book, and taking a dip in your very own private hot tub, this is the place for you. Oh, and you can bring your dog, too.

Step inside six-person Ellesmere Barn and be greeted by a contemporary open-plan layout, with glass doors leading out to the patio and large garden beyond from the living and dining areas, while also letting in bundles of natural light. Décor-wise, think stylish patterned wallpaper and cushions, wooden flooring and tones of blue and yellow. The kitchen? Fully equipped and modern, complete with an island, induction hob and oven, plus a fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave. On warm days, it's all about whipping up meals outside on the BBQ or in the pizza oven and dining al fresco.

When it comes to laying your head down for the night, the first floor houses the three bedrooms. The master has an eye-catching blue and white headboard and a super king that's configurable into a twin, as well as an en-suite shower. The remaining guest rooms overlook the garden and countryside and boast full-height glass doors – ideal for admiring the bucolic views. One is king-size (but can be split into twins if preferred), and the other is a double.

Nestled in the heart of North Yorkshire, you're a short loop walk from Crakehall and the Bay Horse Inn, just a brief drive from the Green Tree Inn at Patrick Brompton, and Bedale is five minutes' away by car – if you're there on a Tuesday, check out the market. Slightly further afield you'll find Leyburn, Richmond and Harrogate. Activity-wise, ride the Wensleydale Railway through glorious countryside or head into the Yorkshire Dales for rambles galore and the Aysgarth Falls. Then back to Ellesmere Barn to enjoy the outdoor hot tub – perfect whatever the weather.
