One of Newcastle's largest hotels, occupying a landmark art deco building overlooking the river, The Vermont has some of the city's best facilities and a wide choice of rooms, yet is not part of a chain, making it one of our favourite places to stay in the city centre. It also is very well placed for central Newcastle, with great views of the river from its uppermost rooms and just a short walk from everything in Newcastle that you might want to see and do,
The guest rooms at The Vermont are decorated in neutral tones and mostly very comfortable, if rather traditional, with wifi, flatscreen TVs, minibars and a desk and tea- and coffee-making facilities and good-sized en-suite bathrooms. They're also pretty good value - much of the time you can snag a double for around £100 a night including breakfast.
Not surprisingly for a hotel of this size, the hotel has a cosy bar and a good restaurant - The Maven – which has great views over the Tyne Bridge. They also offer a really good afternoon tea. The hotel also has a cocktail bar and club that's open late – something you might want to bear in mind when choosing your room as it can get noisy.
