Boston Tea Party
19 Kingsmead Square Bath Somerset BA1 2AE
Not all chain cafés are bad. And, anyway, the family-owned Boston Tea Party group (which has branches in Bristol, Exeter and a few other spots) likes to call itself a 'happy cluster'. Quite right too: this is a lovely, if small, establishment that spills out onto Kingsmead Square, so perfect for sunny days and pavement people-watching. There are always for-sale artworks on the walls and a smile on the staffs' lips. Food is tasty, local and ethical, and well-priced; all meat and eggs are free-range and from West Country suppliers. On the menu you'll find lots of breakfast goodies (from full frys to homemade granola and porridge to baked eggs and chorizo); there are also varied sarnies, salads, burgers and sweet treats – vegans should try Hayley's Hippy Nut Bar.
