Set in another one of those Georgian townhouses that populate the city centre, this is a place of old-school charm crossed with contemporary style – the rooms are gorgeously vibrant, the bathrooms – on occasion – spectacular, while bespoke lighting and beautiful furniture illuminate even the regular 'classic' doubles. Solo travellers can grab a decent deal in the Club rooms, which are the smallest of all, but still prettily turned out – they just don't have a bathtub. Alternatively, for a statement stay, the Four Poster Suite can't be beat, with its giant, seven-foot-square bed and a free-standing bath in a bathroom the size of Luxembourg.
