The Griffin Inn
Beauford Square Bath Somerset BA1 2AP
The Griffin feels a bit hidden away, but, in truth, it's only two minutes walk from the Theatre Royal, and a quick skip from the very centre. This gives it a more local feel, as do the ales behind the bar (generally from the vicinity) and the meat on the menu (from nearby Manor Farm). The food in general is non-fussy – think burgers and fish and chips – and good value. It's an elegant old building – a Grade II Listed Georgian pile, with wooden floors and exposed flagstone walls in the back. There's also accommodation upstairs – five doubles/twins and three singles, all freshly done-up and accompanied by a decent breakfast.
