Enjoying a beautiful position close to the sea in the rolling green hills of Ceredigion, midway between Cardigan and New Quay, Glanmedeni is a wonderful place for two people to get away from just about everything. A beautifully restored old stone forge, it's just a few miles from the coast, and benefits from being part of a larger property, which includes large grounds with gardens and woodland that the owners are busy re-wilding to encourage local wildlife. There are paths and walks around the property that guests are welcome to explore, with dogs on leads.
Above all, Glanmedeni is a unique – and uniquely well kitted-out – place to stay, with a beautiful fitted kitchen and modern bathroom complete with a very special wooden Japanese dipping tub. The bedroom is on a mezzanine floor and is accessed by a spiral staircase and has a lovely super-king-size bed with White Company linen that can easily be transformed into two singles. The property is well equipped with pretty much everything you might need for a comfortable and cosy stay – a woodburning stove, good wifi, Smart TV, coffee machine, dishwasher and microwave, among other things, and outside there's a wooden deck and private garden with views over the fields beyond.
As for the location, there are stunning views across Cardigan Bay and the Irish Sea, and the nearby Ceredigion Coast Path leads to all sorts of isolated coves and sandy beaches. Realistically, you'll need a car to make the most of exploring the local area, with the closest pub, The Ship, 4 miles down the road on the seafront at Tresaith and heading into Cardigan is your best option for stocking up on essentials. To the south, the Preseli Mountains were the source of the Stonehenge standing stones and retain all sort of stone circles and ancient sites to explore, for example at Pentre Ifan, while the Ty Canol nature reserve encompasses West Wales' largest ancient woodland. Not only that – the Pembrokeshire coastal town of Fishguard is just a short drive to the south, while slightly closer to the north the quaint seaside town of New Quay is home to more beautiful beaches.

Facilities
We spend a great deal of our time and energy here at Glanmedeni, improving and enhancing the house, cottages, garden and grounds.
From planting a “mini-forest” of 500 trees in the top field, to managing woodland and creating bountiful havens for our local wildlife population. We are always seeking out new ideas to complement the beauty of our surroundings.
There is always a new project on the go and an even newer one being thought about and discussed at length!
Suitable For
Our exclusively adults cottage is a secluded and peaceful retreat. A haven for watching the wildlife - we have a bird-watching diary, or watching the stars - the total blackout at night can give you the most amazing views of the universe with the naked eye. The area is perfect for walking, hiking, painting and drawing, exploring, wild swimming and so much more.Nearby
We are perfectly positioned in Southern Ceredigion. Just a few minutes from the rugged West Wales coastline. From windswept isolated coves to some of the most beautiful, sandy beaches the United Kingdom has to offer. The recently renovated Ceredigion Coast Path is a walkers’ paradise. Just south of us are the Preseli Mountains, where the Stonehenge standing stones originated from. The surrounding area has stunning views across Cardigan Bay and further afield across the Irish sea. The area is steeped in magical Celtic history and fables. There are a huge variety of historical places, ancient woodlands and neolithic burial grounds to explore. We have industrial museums, cheese manufacturing, gin distilling, pilgrimage walks and smokehouses on the doorstep and plenty of more adventurous activities just a little further afield.
Food & Drink
You won't be stuck for fabulous places to eat and drink in the area. There is a tremendous selection to suit all tastes and budgets. Important mentions go to "The Plwmp Tart" at Penbryn beach, “Crwst” in Cardigan, "In the Welsh Wind" gin distillery at Tan-y-groes and "The Buoy Ashore" at Aberporth beach (summer only.)
