Having spent a lifetime obsessed with food and drink, Hugo Hercod set up his own café and deli in Wadebridge nearly a decade ago. On a mission to serve the region’s best coffee, since he opened the doors of Relish he has been crowned the UK’s barista champion, and come in the top ten of the world barista competition. While fine coffee (served with croissants and pastries) is at the heart of Relish, a bigger menu of quiches, Cornish cheeses and charcuterie can soon turn a visit into a long, lazy lunch, after which no doubt you'll be tempted to stock up on the delectable offerings in the adjoining deli shop. Much of the food is locally sourced, but Hugo won’t let a few food miles get in the way of getting his hands the very best ingredients from the Continent too. With its courtyard setting and a burgeoning foodie reputation, Relish is the sort of place that’s putting Wadebridge firmly in the league of neighbouring Padstow on Cornwall’s food and drink scene.
