Huffkins Tea Rooms
The Square Stow-on-the-Wold Gloucestershire GL54 1AB
This small chain of tea-rooms might have begun in 1880, but it’s bang-up to date. The Stow branch (you’ll also find them in Burford, Witney and Cheltenham) opened in 2010 in a prime spot overlooking the square, in a space oozing Cotswold character, blackened beams and all. The tea is all loose-leaf, the eclairs come with a branded dollop of Huffkin's chocolate, and should you wish to stand back from the olde-worlde charm for a moment, there’s free wifi too. Both baked and other goodies are available to take away, and don't leave without sampling Huffkins’ famous lardy cake, best served warm. You’ll just have to forget your waistline for the rest of the day. Savoury meals are also available.
