Prince of India
5 Park Street Stow-on-the-Wold Gloucestershire GL54 1AQ
When in the Cotwolds, you'd be forgiven for forgetting that curry has become England's national dish. But the Prince of India provides welcome relief from all of the modern British cooking and the ubiquitous cream teas. It's a typical curry house in many ways – flock wallpaper, a fairly standard menu served in a warm and friendly dining room by competent and knowledgable Indian waiters – but the food is a cut above the average. Overall, it's a great place to remind yourself that chicken tikka masala is still England's favourite dish.
