Five minutes from the centre of Aylsham, the Bure Valley Railway is a narrow-gauge train line, served by a mixture of steam and diesel engines, which runs downm to Hoveton & Wroxham, taking in Buxton, Brampton and Coltishall, Brampton and Buxton along the way. The entire nine-mile trip takes 45 minutes, and is a fun ride for families. And if you don’t want to take the train you can walk or cycle the Bure Valley Path, which shadows the rail line – and sometimes the river – all the way.
