A small, picturesque and rather well-heeled town just a few miles from the North Norfolk Coast, Holt represents all that is best about this part of Norfolk – a thriving place with an elegant Georgian core that is both an appealing place to live and a thoroughly nice place to visit, full of galleries and antique dealers, restaurants and bookstores, which draw people from miles around. A town like this should always have a decent inn at its heart, and Holt does, in the recently revitalised Feathers, which occupies a prime position on the busy high street. Like all the best inns, it's a place to drink and a place to eat, but best of all it's a terrific place to stay, with 24 comfy bedrooms, including 'Lawns Rooms', making it possible for you to share the delights of Holt with its residents for a night or two.
Inside, it's a classic coaching inn in style, with an old-fashioned cosy bar, welcoming log fires and various snugs and lounges, some of which now house private dining spaces. Drink inside or on the outdoor terrace, and choose from a menu that revels in local produce, from coastal smokehouse salmon and local seafood to lamb and beef from nearby Swannington Farm. The guest rooms divide between the main building and The Lawns annexe – two minutes' walk away – and are all modern and spacious, with decent-sized, recently refurbished bathrooms with toiletries, Freeview TVs, tea- and coffee-making facilities and either a double or a king-size bed. There are a couple of family rooms in the main building (complete with bunk beds), and those in The Lawns are also good for families, while all the rest have walk-in showers and also welcome dogs – who get a bed, towel and water bowl for their trouble!
Wake up early to enjoy an excellent breakfast and Holt is all yours to explore, before heading off to the coast either by car, on foot or bike, or on the North Norfolk Railway to Sheringham, whose southernmost terminus lies just outside the town. Truly a great spot for a weekend away.

Perfection in Holt
We decided to visit Holt and found The Feathers. So glad we did. Great, warm welcome, lovely room, spotless and a bed and treats for the pooch. Tried the restaurant on 1st night and very good and lovely friendly service. Very quiet and cannot fault anything. The town of Holt is fabulous, lovely selection of shops, coffee houses,
pubs and walks for the dog. Perfect for a weekend away.

Nothing not to Love
We stayed in The Lawns, which is about a 3 min walk to the feathers. Room was big, clean and warm. All the staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. The breakfast was a great choice and was the evening menu and very delicious. Bar area was great, warm and welcoming. We will definitely stay again as Holt is our favourite place!

Excellent stay. Loved it.
Lovely one-night stay in the annexe of the hotel. Been to Holt lots of times but never stayed in the town. The rooms are just round the corner from hotel. Communal lounge, sun room and garden in the heart of Holt. Big room, huge comfy bed, lovely shower ensuite and private parking. Breakfast in hotel was lovely buffet style. Great
coffee and orange juice and full spread of quality food. Perfect stay. Would highly recommend.

Super comfortable, dog welcoming - perfect for doggy lovers!
My partner and I braved taking our 9-month-old puppy with us on a weekend break and we were so pleased we took the risk. The Feathers really are very accommodating with dogs, even boiling the dog an egg in the morning for breakfast. There were several other dogs staying too and not once did we feel we were being kept a close eye on. The staff were all super helpful, the room was very clean and comfortable and they had set up a dog bed and treats for the puppy. For us humans, there was a good selection of drinks and cocktails, we had dinner in the restaurant and the food was amazing. I had the sea bass which was cooked to perfection. breakfast had a good choice available. Couldn’t fault a thing to be honest!

A beautiful place to stay and spend Easter with special people
Large spacious bedroom complete with a welcome card, dog biscuits, bowl and comfy dog bed for our labrador which was very much appreciated. Bed very comfortable and room very peaceful. Great choice of breakfast dishes. Menu interesting and very good value. Holt is a beautiful place to stay with great beaches and walks close by and lots of quirky independent shops to browse in. Outstanding staff, so friendly and accommodating.
