The Black Boys
Market Place Aylsham NR11 6EH
Right on the market square in the heart of Aylsham, and owned by the same folk who own the Recruiting Sergeant down the road in Horstead, the Black Boys is the beating heart of the town, a gastro pub that manages to pull off the balance between being a drinking joint and restaurant with easy aplomb. The bar is always busy and convivial, while the restaurant serves consistently well-excuted food from a dangerously large menu – and the service is brisk and efficient too. They do a great choice of roasts on Sundays, and the rest of the time the food is modern British made with local ingredients but with a touch of Mediterranean influence and flair – think roast fillet of hake with chorizo potatoes and green beans or pan-fried sole with local samphire and prawns; plus they do great steaks and a range of roasts on Sundays, using meat from the Swannington and Farm to Fork and Fish shops,
