Just outside the pretty village of Cartmel, Yew Tree Barn is a real treasure trove, an actual 19th-century barn that’s part gallery, part craft studio. The whole thing is anchored by a reclamation yard, so you can find anything from antique church carvings and restored furniture to contemporary jewellery and designer ceramics. There are usually artists around to chat to, and a really nice café on site too, Harry's Cafe Bar.
