Fell Foot Park
Newby Bridge Windermere Cumbria LA12 8NN
Explore a secret corner of Windermere on the lovely lakeside lawns of Fell Foot Park – it's just a ten-minute crossing by launch from the Lakeside ferry and steam train terminus but is often overlooked in the rush. It's a really beautiful old Victorian estate, with wooded grounds that roll right down to the sparkling waters of England's largest lake. There are plenty of places for children to play hide and seek (including an adventure playground), or they can splash in the shallow shore waters. Rowing boats are available in spring and summer, and there's a nice café in the former boathouse – great ice cream too.
