Kings Road Bandstand
Kings Road near Bedford Square Brighton
In its Victorian heyday, Brighton and Hove had 12 bandstands. Sadly, only one survives and this too could easily have been lost were it not for a passionate campaign to save it from long neglect. In 2009, it emerged from its scaffolding like a butterfly, its ornate ‘birdcage’ ironwork beautifully restored. Bands of all varieties now play here for the amusement of anyone who plonks themselves down in a deckchair. It’s also a sought-after venue for weddings.
