Situated in the heart of Lewes, this self-catering property is the perfect base for enjoying not just East Sussex's attractive county town but also the beauty of the nearby countryside and South Downs National Park. In many ways it's the perfect weekend escape from London – just an hour away by train, and within easy walking distance of the station, so you can if you want leave the car at home. It also has parking if you decide to come by car, which is useful if you want to get out onto the Downs. Whichever you choose, you couldn't be in a better location for a lazy weekend loafing about about one of the Southeast's most appealing small towns.
The terraced property is immaculately presented, and much bigger than you might think from the outside – nicely refurbished in a contemporary style and with plenty of room for up to six guests. Located in a peaceful part of the town centre, yet only a few minutes' walk from the high street, its home-from-home vibe may make you want to stick around longer, with a sunny, dual-aspect, open-plan living space made up of a sitting area furnished with comfy sofas, wooden floors and a Smart TV, a dining table and chairs, plus a dinky but well-equipped kitchen, with fridge freezer, fan oven, dishwasher and gas hob. Tea, coffee and milk are provided so you don't have to dash out for supplies as soon as you arrive!
The master bedroom suite occupies the entire lower ground floor: a spacious and beautifully decorated room with a king-size bed and a luxury mattress, walk-in wardrobe and en-suite shower room, while there are two further bedrooms on the first floor, both similarly decorated with a light, modern touch and sharing a second bathroom. One of these bedrooms is a regular double, while the other has bunk beds so is ideal for children. Toiletries and fluffy towels are provided in all the bathrooms, as are a hairdryer, iron and ironing board, and there is a washing machine too if you need it.
The train station is a short distance away on the other side of the town centre, and Lewes is a really nice town for a short break, with lots of pubs, restaurants and independent shops, as well as a good stock of historical sights – from the Castle and Museum to Anne of Cleves House, and Harveys still- thriving brewery as well as the Bloomsbury Group's Charleston Farmhouse just outside the town. It's a perfect place to potter about not doing very much at all, enjoying its hilly aspects and the river that flows through its centre, and poking about its antique and bric-a-brac shops.
