For a city centre pad in the heart of buzzy Brighton, they don’t come much more central than Regency Stables. Hidden in a mews behind historic Regency Square, this chic three bedroom house lies a pebbles’ pelt from Brighton’s iconic seafront, the i360 and the many bars, restaurants and shops the city has to offer. And yet, this feels like a little oasis – a soothing sanctum away from the hustle of the bustle of the nearby North Laine.

As the name suggests, the historic property originally housed the horses belonging to the great and good of the grand houses of the adjoining square. Today, it’s a thoroughly modern holiday home. The open-plan living space is stylishly furnished, with contemporary artwork adorning the walls and assorted potted succulents enlivening the place. The widescreen TV here is suitable for streaming (the wifi is super fast) so you can plonk the kids down to a movie whilst easily keeping an eye on them while you relax with the grown-ups at the dining table. A striking curved glass feature wall redolent of a New York loft divides the sitting room from the sleek, well-equipped kitchen brimming with everything you need, including a big American fridge-freezer.

There are a trio of en suite double bedrooms, meaning this place is ideal for a group of couples looking for a self-catering sojourn on the Sussex coast. King-sized beds with memory foam mattresses ensure the deepest of sleeps while double blinds keep out the sunrise if you need to sleep off the previous night’s shenanigans. The main bedroom also has access to a full width sunny balcony – a lovely setting for that first morning brew. Premium toiletries and fresh fluffy towels are also provided.

Cleverly concealed from the street by an unassuming garage door, the suntrap courtyard means you can soak up the rays in what is officially the UK’s sunniest city. And there are also a pair of private parking spaces provided – though if you’re travelling by train, the station is less than 10 minutes’ walk away.

Just round the corner, you’ll find CAMRA’s 2022 Brighton and South Down’s Pub of the Year, The Hole in the Wall. The famous Lanes’ dizzying array of places to eat and drink are all within walking distance. Or, just take a mosey down the promenade and enjoy a classic fish and chips on the seafront.

What a gem!

What a gem! This was a lucky find for us. Perfect location, it was very close to the pier and all the restaurants. Very spacious room and very comfortable living room. I highly recommend it.

Would recommend to others visiting Brighton

Stayed for 3 nights - it was a very comfortable stay and the open-plan living room/kitchen was particularly inviting. Great location and very close to the sea and local ammenties, would recommend to others visiting Brighton.

We would definitely return!

We absolutely loved this location. It was as described, close to the beach, quiet, and within a few minutes walk to all the best that Brighton has to offer. The flat itself was fully equipped and had everything you’d ever need. We were a group of six adults and felt totally at home. The flat is large enough that we were never tripping over each other but also has a large living area that fit us all. We would definitely return!
