North Laine
East of Queens Road Brighton
North Laine, which takes its name from an old Sussex word for meadow, is the quarter of terraced cottages and funky shops bounded by Trafalgar Street, Queens Road, North Street and the A23. The living, breathing embodiment of Brighton’s independent-minded, bohemian, fun-loving side, it’s stuffed with quirky places selling beads, crystals, vinyl records, bonsai trees, hemp products, retro accessories and cutting-edge clothing. It also has some nifty places to eat and drink, with tables spilling out onto the streets.
