Despite the superior glitz and glamour of the Proud London chains, it's hard to imagine a more appropriate location for a cabaret bar than here in Brighton. What was once the prestigious Hanbury Ballroom, is now decadence and sex incarnate: erotic paintings of voluptuous women and red velvet drapes, all encompassed in a pink haze of light. Once you've slung on your best 20's frock; or slicked your hair back and twirled your moustache, you'll be ready to step back in time to a world of jazz, liquor and pure raunch. Proud is notorious for easing your through the roaring 20's and swinging 30's using high-class (and often naughty) burlesque and cabaret showmanship. You can even make an entire night out of it, having a choice of supper from their delicious British inspired menu. Overall, an inspired night out that aims to cause a stir in even the most fastidious prude.
