Despite its rather drab exterior, this restaurant, in a pair of of interconnecting Georgian cottages, serves up a nice line in modern British cuisine using fresh local seasonal ingredients. The menu is creative and thoughtfully presented with chef Martin Peacock creating quite a name for himself in the area. Landgate Bistro is big on fish and has a good range of meats such as duck and venison along with excellent, if rather pricey, puddings. The friendliness with which it's served only adds to the warm atmosphere of the place. Unfortunately its limited opening times means it’s not the best option for day-trippers except at the weekend.
