If there was ever proof that things in Hastings were on the up, it's this eighteenth-century rectory on the edge of the Old Town, which has been tastefully dolled up as a luxurious boutique hotel, with eight quirkily individual guest rooms that charm and pamper at the same time – and all for a very desirable price. Breakfasts are locally sourced and delicious – homebaked bread, kippers from the Old Town fishmonger, eggs from a nearby farm, plus they make their own sausages and bacon. The rooms, each named after a street in the Old Town, vary quite a lot, from the relatively simple Rock-a-Nore to the fancier All Saints and Crown, but they all come with tea-and coffee-making facilities, fresh milk, complimentary water, flatscreen Freeview TVs with DVD players (and a selection of books and DVDs), robes, Egyptian cotton sheets and well-appointed bathrooms – many with baths – stocked with their own Copley by the Sea brand of toiletries. There's also a suite with space for four – perfect for friends, two couples or a family. Downstairs are two effortlessly chic lounges and an honesty bar and they can host weddings in the hotel itself or outside their lovely walled garden with patio and pond – a lovely spot, we reckon, to tie the knot. They have also recently added some treatment rooms and a sauna for a spot of proper pampering for residents and non-residents alike. Indeed the Old Rectory is the perfect place from which to enjoy the ever-increasing delights of Hastings and the Sussex coast, whether you're getting married, are already married, or have no intention of getting married at all!
