Watersports are a natural choice with the sea so near and with wind in such plentiful supply. You can try the choppy waters of the Channel if you like or you can play safe at the Rye Watersports centre on Northpoint Water. At this lake a little way south of the town, there’s kitesurfing, windsurfing and sailing on offer. These guys have a range of decent equipment for hire, including wetsuits and harnesses.  Dinghy hire is available too but has to be booked in advance. Instructors are helpful and experienced while those looking to hire equipment without tuition are also welcome.
