We love Albion Nights – and not just because it's a terrific place to stay in a beautiful part of south Norfolk. But also because it's a classic tale of creative folk who have liberated themselves from city life (in this case London) and started over again in the country. Helen and her family did just that almost a decade ago, and Albion Nights is in part the result – an off-grid cabin nestled in the woods just north of Bungay, on the fringes of the Norfolk Broads and not far from the idyllic Waveney Valley.
Helen and partner Pete spent a long time looking for the perfect place to put their dream into action, and we're glad that they were patient, because they couldn't have come up with a more tranquil location than this – tucked away down a track off the main road into the village of Woodton. You arrive at their house, park your car if you have one, and then set off on a winding path through the woods to your cabin, where you will enjoy the utmost peace and privacy in your very own six acres of meadow and woodland. Helen and Pete built the cabin themselves using only reclaimed and re-purposed materials and it's totally off-grid and totally charming. But it's also very comfortable, with a super-cosy living area with a kitchenette and wood-burning stove and a separate bedroom with a large and very comfy handmade bed – plus an en-suite bathroom with a shower and toilet. On arrival you get a welcome pack of local goodies and wood for the fire, while outside there's a cosy terrace with a bathtub you can wallow in while looking up at the stars. And beyond that? Well, your own six acres of meadow and woodland, to which the only visitors will be Helen's small flock of sheep, who roam the grounds keeping the grass short in return for the sort of attention normally only reserved for family pets!
The opportunity to gatecrash Helen's lifestyle for a few days is undeniably appealing, petting the sheep, strolling over to the secret sauna, visiting the terrific farm shop and café next door for supplies, and generally getting back to nature with no distractions. There's no WiFi (but then that's why you're here) and the site couldn't be more peaceful. On the other hand, there's also loads to do nearby. Helen and Pete run crafting workshops and host occasional live music events in their lovely vaulted barn, and you're also just a 10-minute drive from both Loddon and Bungay, both of which have good places to eat and drink if you want to occasionally check out what's going on back in civilisation. You're in the southern reaches of the Broads National Park, a beautiful region best explored on the water, and you can rent canoes and paddle boards at a couple of places nearby – Three Rivers Pitch & Paddle and
Hippersons in Beccles. Even the coast isn't far away. Come here once and you'll be back – we guarantee it!

A true slice of paradise
Incredibly peaceful, beautiful scenery, loads of wildlife to see and listen to and the cabin itself is thoughtfully put together with luxurious little details, really the ultimate place to get away from it all.

Piece of heaven
As you journey your way to the cabin, you feel a web of relaxation taking over, I could of honestly sat on the balcony forever snuggled up in the blankets, the wildlife noises take your mind off any troubles and spotting the wildlife was a highlight for me. Obviously until I turned around and entered the most amazing cabin, so cosy, so many thoughtful touches, it really is a feast. Don't ever think its to cold for an outside bath as its worth every moment. Thank you Helen for your kindness in sharing your piece of heaven.

Magical
We had the most magical experience at the cabin. Even though the weather was very mixed in early March, the sun came out and we got to use the outdoor bathtub at sunset and saw muntjac and lots of birds. It was a very special birthday night away which will be remembered for many years to come. Thank you Helen for your hospitality.

Simply beautiful
We spent the new year here 2023, and the peace and quiet was lovely. Inside the cabin was very well thought out with everything you'd need to make your stay special, for couples who just want to relax and unwind this is the perfect place.

Idyllic!
We had a wonderful anniversary weekend in the cabin - it was so cosy! Helen left us a lovely welcome hamper with some very tasty local products included. It’s in a beautiful setting - we saw some muntjac deer and countless birds; it’s very peaceful.

Will definitely be rebooking
What an exceptional beautiful spot, the tiny house is made with such care and attention to detail. It's truly a spot you can completely switch off and unwind from the pressure of the modern world. Has a well-equipped little kitchen, the bed is very comfortable but would recommend bringing an eye mask if light sensitive. Having a bath whilst listening to the rain n sipping wine is just a must, wouldn't have left !! Helen is passionate about the tranquil spot she has created and leaves you local treats for breakfast, the bacon from the local farm shop was the best this vegetarian has had in two years. Will definitely be rebooking before the year is out.

What a slice of heaven!
Absolutely beautiful place to rest and reconnect. The privacy, peace and tranquillity of the surroundings gave my husband and I the much needed sanctuary we were looking for. Stayed for 4 nights, would’ve loved to have stayed longer, and will, without a doubt, be back! On a practical note, the cabin has everything you need, the bed is extremely comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped, the hot water is hot-the bath outside was just wonderful-and Helen has added some lovely touches to make you feel very welcome. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Absolutely perfect place to stay to totally unwind and relax. Lovely warm welcome on arrival. Stayed for 2 nights on my own, enjoyed the lovely space to myself in nature. Everything you need from the lovely food hamper, tea and coffee, comfiest bed and a relaxing candlelit bath outside. Helen has created such a beautiful place.
