A unique and romantic place to stay for two among the vines of one of Suffolk's oldest vineyards

It's one of no less than a dozen or so Suffolk winemakers, but Valley Farm Vineyards is unusual in that you can not only stay there overnight, but the accommodation is situated right amongst the vines. The first vines were planted here a generation ago and, today, visitors can enjoy the tasting barn, self-guided and tutored tours (the latter for groups), not to mention the rather wonderful Cabin-in-the-Vines.
Well-appointed and surprisingly spacious, this charming wooden cabin comes insulated with sheeps' wool and is powered by solar power and state-of-the-art batteries. It's the perfect off-grid place for two eco-friendly folk to get away from it all, with a large living area, a bedroom with a double bed with a high-end mattress and bed linen and wooden floors throughout.
There's a separate bathroom with shower, toilet and sink, towels and toiletries, and it even has its own fully-equipped kitchen complete with hob, oven, fridge and everything else you might need. There is heat, light and hot water, dogs are welcome, and the location is so tucked away and gorgeous you might not want to leave. Indeed, its outside porch is about as perfect a place to enjoy a summer evening with a glass of wine as you'll find – plus there's no WiFi, making it an easy place to switch off from the world outside. You’ll also enjoy a complimentary self-guided tour and tasting included in your stay, with a bottle of wine waiting for you on arrival (accompanied by other essentials, such as tea, coffee, sugar and fresh milk).
Finally, the location couldn't be better, with a couple of pubs within walking distance (which naturally serve Valley Farm Vineyard’s finest along with decent food). Nearby Halesworth is an appealing small town, increasingly popular with London escapees. You’re also right on the Sustrans cycle route 1 as well as footpaths leading off in all directions, as far as the nearby Suffolk Coast AONB. Finally there are the wines – these vary from their Sundancer sparkling to their very drinkable View East rosé, to a couple of lovely whites made with Pinot Gris and Madeline Angevine grapes. Pour yourself a glass, put your feet up and close your eyes... you could be in Burgundy!
