On the northwest edge of The Cotswolds, just outside the picturesque and historic riverside town of Tewkesbury, The Beckford Inn is a recently refurbished 18th-century coaching inn in the village of the same name. Part of the local Butcombe group, it's made a name for itself as a foodie place to stay, and quite right too: its dozen comfy boutique guest rooms and downstairs restaurant make this a terrific base for this part of The Cotswolds.
The inn's 12 bedrooms are decorated with chic country style, and range from Luxury Doubles to Superior Doubles and Family rooms. They all come with en-suite bathrooms with showers (family rooms have baths as well) and Bramley toiletries, flatscreen TVs, DAB radios, mini-fridges, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Eight welcome dogs (for a small additional charge) and all are spacious, very comfortable and individually decorated. Downstairs, you'll find a rustic country pub, with flag-stoned floors, open fires and a light, bright restaurant area. They serve a tremendous breakfast and a varying menu throughout the day, but one that can be relied upon to deliver hearty and delicious pub classics alongside more refined food. There's also an extensive beer garden.
The location meanwhile is very convenient, both for the Cotswolds, in particular Cheltenham and Broadway, and also for the M5, M59 and places further south and west. And, of course, there's a plethora of walks you can do from the pub if all you want to do is explore what's on your doorstep
