Melrose & Morgan describe themselves as a ‘grocery shop and kitchen’. Which is fair enough. But it’s more like Fortnums than your usual corner shop, with some terrific prepared food – pies, en croute dishes, Scotch eggs, crumbles, tarts – as well as top-of-the-range cheese, bread, salads, juice, chocolates and more. And that’s just the grocery part. The kitchen counter, where you can order takeaways or stay and eat at the half dozen tables, offers a rather wonderful selection of lunchtime specials (£5.95–7.95), soups and sandwiches (£2.95–3.95).  They also have a Primrose Hill store, if you're ever in the area.
