With 192 rooms, Hoxton Southwark is the smallest (just) of the London Hoxtons – despite being in the largest building, half of which is given over to the co-working office space. Rooms vary from Shoebox to Biggy and take in Snug, Cosy and Roomy along the way, and come equipped with air-conditioning, tea and coffee, digital radios, fridges with fresh milk and water and flatscreen TVs with Freeview (they are also introducing Smart TVs with Apple TV). You can buy drinks and other essentials from reception at non-mini-bar prices, and even the smallest rooms have high ceilings, and only the Shoeboxes don’t have space for a chair or desk. Bathrooms are decent sizes without too much variation between categories. The first and second floors are home to their dog-friendly rooms, and dogs go free, as well as being provided with a dog bowl, bed, treats and toy and a dog-friendly guide to the local area – something all the Hoxton hotels do. Rather sweetly, they also tend to ask the dog's name so they can give him/her a proper sort of welcome.
The ground floor lobby, bar and restaurant all merge into one and are a deliberately sociable space, with a vibe that is a bit gentler than its Shoreditch cousin. The hotel offers a good range of food and drink options, from the relaxed Albie’s restaurant in the lobby, which serves burgers, salads, sharing boards and snacks all day and evening, to the rightly popular Seabird restaurant on the 11th floor, which specializes in Mediterranean seafood and has one of the best views in London from its large terrace. There's also a mezzanine bar that's a great little hideaway and a good place to meet friends.
