This super-swish and stylish Conran venue is housed in a converted Victorian warehouse topped with a glass extension, and sits on a quiet back street within a stone’s throw of both Shoreditch and Brick Lane. The building encompasses three restaurants and bars, plus a deli/bakery and a café specialising in British food. Plus – of course – the rooms. There are 12 in all, plus five suites, which are inspired by figures such as Charles and Ray Eames, Le Corbusier and Mies Van der Rohe, and Bauhaus, and reflect Conran’s obsession with design. If it all sounds faintly pretentious, it is, but like a lot of Conran projects, they just about pull it off, not least because of the hotel’s elegant, quirky style, and the undeniably high levels of comfort.
