Undercliff Walk
Ovingdean Gap Brighton East Sussex BN2 7AF
Just beyond Brighton Marina, the chalk and flint cliffs which define the East Sussex and Kent coast are propped up by a concrete seawall. This fights a valiant battle against the elements – in winter, the storms can be fierce and if the cliffs were to crumble any more than they do at present, they’d soon bring the main road down with them. A broad promenade tops the wall, offering walkers great views of the cliffs and the sea. It’s a healthy three-mile walk to the end of the path at Saltdean, passing the pretty village of Rottingdean along the way.
