The Bull's Head - Barnes
373 Lonsdale Road Barnes London SW13 9PY
The Bulls Head in Barnes was once known as a traditional Jazz Pub. But if you fancy popping down now to chill to the sounds of Artie Shaw and Woody Herman nursing a pint and having a few crafty totes on a roll-up, you are going to be very disappointed. The Bulls Head is still a jazz pub and puts on good shows on a Sunday night, but the pub itself has gone through a total transformation – much to the delight of the well off Barnes residents. Geronimo Inns–- who have a number of pubs in London – have fitted it out for food and families who like a bit of style. The layout is nicely open and the bar staff are impressively efficient and friendly. The place has got a welcoming atmosphere, and they are just as happy for you to pop in for a pint or a glass of wine or tuck into a full on lunch that leans towards the traditional British in style – hearty options in generous portions. Not the cheapest but a very welcome addition to the Barnes village scene, plus it hasn't entirely shed its musical roots.
