Trois Garçons
45 Redchurch Street, Bethnal Green, London E2 7DJ
If you’re after a laidback dining experience, or if you favour minimalist decor, then this eccentrically decorated restaurant isn’t for you. Housed in a grand old Victorian pub, with original gleaming etched mirrors, Trois Garçons is a riot of lush, decadent decoration, from the glittering chandeliers and vintage evening bags hanging from the ceiling, to the sculpture of a cigar-smoking monkey and an even more distracting stuffed tiger. As for the food, it’s is modern French and classy, with dishes such as marinated Gressingham duck breast with date-filled leg ballantine, or market-fresh fish and shellfish. The dishes and the decor don’t come cheap, but the cooking is authentic and generally tip-top.
