Handmade Food
40 Tranquil Vale Blackheath London SE3 0BD
Local chef Fergus Clague set up Handmade Food nearly twenty years ago and quickly became a fixture on the southeast London foodie scene, taking provenance and seasonality extremely seriously before many people even thought about such things. Ferg has since moved on to run a vineyard in France, but his legacy lives on in this deli, grocers shop and café, now under the ownership of excellent local chef and food entrepreneur Guy Awford. They pride themselves on sustainability and quality, and are passionate about both, but really it's the food that does the talking, with changing daily specials that range from duck, ham and cranberry pie to handmade arancini and various exotic, wholesome salads and a good range of fine cheeses. Their sausage rolls and homity pies – which they always have – are delicious.
