The Rake
14a Winchester Walk Borough Market London SE1 9AG
This tiny pub is very serious about beer. It claims to have 130 different brews in the fridges behind the bar, along with no less than seven keg pumps and three cask ale handpulls. It’s impossible to review what they have as the selection is in a constant state of flux, but selections will range from as far afield as Tasmania and as close as Bermondsey (The Kernel Brewery is just a few hundred metres away). You would have to be very picky indeed not to find something to your taste – and once you’ve found the elixir of choice you may want to pop down to the same owners’ Utobeer stall in the market, and pick up a few boxes to cart home.
