Whitecross Street Market
Whitecross Street London EC1
One of London’s oldest street markets, dating back to the 17th century, and a popular lunchtime spot for nearby office workers. It’s more of a general street market early in the week but goes all out for the foodies on Thursdays and Fridays with stalls selling hot dishes from cuisines around the world. Once you’ve grabbed your takeaway, head to the top of the street and cross over Old Street to St Luke’s Church (it’s a Hawksmoor design so worth seeing; now run by LSO St Luke's), where there are benches in front of the church and the larger St Luke’s Garden behind.
