Jacksons Lane
269a Archway Road Highgate London N6 5AA
Innovation is the name of the game at Jacksons Lane, although beyond that the sort of things you’ll see at this multi-space former church near Highgate tube are hard to pin down: anything from comedy acts – stand-up Mark Steel has performed here for BBC Radio 4 – to modern theatre (including hot transfers from the Edinburgh Fringe) and burlesque. Quality can be variable, yet the fact that Matt Lucas and David Walliams made their double-act debut here provides some evidence of Jacksons Lane’s role in nurturing emerging talent. It also retains a strong community focus, with children’s theatre at weekends and school holidays, plus a headspinning array of dance and drama classes.
