Science Museum
Exhibition Road Kensington London SW7 2DD
This inspirational museum is a temple to all things science and could keep most visitors occupied for a full day. Hundreds of thousands of objects are on display here across dozens of different themes, including transport, space, the human mind, the home and medicine. Its Making the Modern World gallery has iconic objects as varied as the Apollo 10 command module from 1969 and Stephenson's Rocket locomotive from 1829, plus you can discover more about yourself in the hands on Who Am I? gallery, and get up close to some serious power in the Energy Hall. And, if you haven't got children in tow, be sure to visit on the last Wednesday of the month for the adults-only Lates, which sees under 18s banished as temporary bars are opened and events such as silent disco and speed-dating get underway. You can also join in experiments and get hands-on with the exhibits.
