Brompton Oratory
Brompton Road Kensington London SW7 2RP
This Roman Catholic church bears the full name the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, but it's more popularly known as the Brompton Oratory. Built in the 1880s and consecrated in 1884, this gorgeous Portland stone-faced building was the largest Catholic church in London until Westminster Cathedral opened in 1903, and it remains an imposing place to visit, its cupola reaching some 200 feet into the sky. The London Oratory choir sings here and mass is celebrated every day in both Latin and English.
