The Tabernacle
35 Powis Square Notting Hill London W11 2AY
The hub of Notting Hill cultural life, the Tabernacle was around when the Carnival was founded, and is still going strong, home to the twenty-year-old London Calypso Tent, seen by many as the precursor to the full carnival. The Tabernacle hosts events all year round though, and although primarily focused on Caribbean culture, it also acts as a community hub for activities as diverse as yoga and comedy. There's a bar and restaurant, but it's primarily an events space, hosting exhibitions, films, comedy shows and live music all year round.
