Royal China
13 Queensway Bayswater London W2 4QJ
If you feel like going to yum cha Hong-Kong style, this is the place to visit in London. There's no booking, so take a ticket, queue up for your number to be called, and then gorge on dim sum in the frenetic surroundings of the main eating area. On weekends it gets busy with locals in the know, so if you come after noon you might have to wait half an hour or so, although after a recent refurb they now have even more space and there are less queues. There are branches of Royal China across London, but this is maybe the biggest and best, and it serves far better dim sum than many of the chains on Westbourne Grove. Try the extra smoky ho fun here, or the spicy salty bean curd, which is excellent. They also cater for evening diners, and you can expect to pay a little more, but the food is still to a very high standard.
